In Amer, Rajasthan, India, there is a fort called Amer Fort. Amer, a 4 square kilometre town, lies 11 kilometres from Jaipur, the state capital of Rajasthan. The main tourist attraction in Jaipur is situated on a hilltop.
Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, who moved his court to Jaipur from Amber in 1727, founded the City Palace in Jaipur at the same time as the city.
Maharajah Sawaii Jai Singh II of Jaipur built five astronomical observatories in northern India between 1724 and 1730. The observatories, or “Jantar Mantars,” as they are also called, consist of a number of architecturally distinctive buildings, each serving a specific purpose for astronomical measurement.
A palace in Jaipur, India is called Hawa Mahal. Red and pink sandstone were used in its construction. The palace extends to the zenana, or women’s rooms, and is located on the periphery of Jaipur’s City Palace. Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh erected the building in 1799.
In the centre of the Man Sagar Lake in Jaipur, the Indian state of Rajasthan’s capital city, there stands a palace called Jal Mahal. Maharaja Jai Singh II of Amber rebuilt and expanded the palace and the lake that surrounded it in the 18th century.
